Buying at Auction

In Person

If attending the auction, you will be asked for proof of identity and address. Please keep your bidder's number (paddle) and show it to the auctioneer if a lot is knocked down to you.

By Telephone

If you wish to bid by telephone, email enquiries@mellorsandkirk.com at least 24 hours before the auction.

By Commission Bid (On our website)

You can create an online account here and login to place bids directly from our online auction catalogues.

Just place the maximum amount you are willing to bid and we will bid on your behalf.

Or email your bid to us by 9am on the morning of the sale to bids@mellorsandkirk.com

Condition Report Requests

All condition report requests must be received at least 24 hours before the auction 

Live Online Bidding

Mellors & Kirk offer an online bidding service via mellorsandkirk.com, easyliveauction.com or the-saleroom.com for bidders unable to attend

To bid online you will need to register for the auction at

mellorsandkirk.comthe-saleroom.com or easyliveauction.com

Once registered you can watch the auction in real time, simply click the bid button to place a bid.

Live bidding platforms attract additional costs as detailed below:

mellorsandkirk.com - 1.5% (plus VAT)

Easyliveauction.com - 3.00% +VAT on the hammer price of all lots purchased or a flat fee of £3.00 is taken by Easyliveauction. Note: This fee will be taken regardless of whether you bid on or purchase lots.

the-saleroom.com – 4.95% (+ VAT)

Buyer's Premium

Buyers are charged a premium of 24% (plus VAT) in addition to the hammer price. Subject to a minimum charge of £6 per lot plus VAT

Payment

All invoices are emailed out after the auction and payment is to be made online via the payment link in the email. Payment can be made using debit or credit card (not American Express) or by bank transfer.

Payment is due no later than seven days following the auction.

If you do not have email, we will post the invoice to you with the bank account details for payment.

Collection

Please collect lots within one week from the date of sale.

You do not need to make an appointment to collect. Please note our opening hours of Monday-Friday 8.30am-5pm (closing 1-2pm for lunch). We do not take payments over the counter so please ensure you have paid for your lot(s) before arriving to collect.

If you are unable to collect in person, please instruct your own courier or choose from our list of suggested couriers who can collect on your behalf. 

Please do not arrive at Mellors & Kirk to collect without having first paid the invoice.

Storage

All lots will be stored free of charge at the buyer's risk for one week, after which charges begin to accrue.

Storage costs (charged after the 7 days) -

£5 per day per lot on furniture

£2 per day per lot on all other items

Packing

Buyers are asked to make their own arrangements for collection.
