[ITALIAN POET UGO FOSCOLO ASSOCIATION COPY]

[ITALIAN POET UGO FOSCOLO ASSOCIATION COPY]PETRARCA, FRANCESCO[IL PETRARCHA CON L'ESPOSITIONE DI M. GIO. ANDREA GESUALDO...] [Venice], Iacomo Vidali, 1574. Small 4to in 8s, a defective copy lacking title, 1 prelim leaf, and leaf Xx1 (title to the 'Trionfi'), text ends on folio 414 (of 419), full-page woodcut map present, 6 woodcuts present to the 'Trionfi'. Bound in full vellum, worn at the extremities. This copy has an interesting provenance - on the front free-endpaper there is an inscription in ink by the Italian writer and poet Ugo Foscolo (1778-1827) which ends "I salute you Fazakirley with this little note in the book". According to another note by Fazakerley/Fazakirley, written above, he loaned the book to Foscolo (whilst in London, sometime between 1817 and his death)
