WORLD WAR ONE, MILITARY MBE AND BATTLE OF THE SOMME MCGROUP OF FOUR OF 2ND LIEUTENANT H F M PELLATT OF THE ROYAL IRISH REGIMENT SPECIAL RESERVE the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire member's badge, hallmarked 1919, Military Cross, British War Medal and Victory Medal, 2LIEUT H F M PELLATT, with a corresponding set of miniature medalsProvenance: The recipient, Hamilton Francis Moore Pellatt (1889-1936; thence by descent to the present vendor.Military Cross: London Gazette, 22 September 1916. The citation reads: For conspicuous gallantry in action. When a platoon was required from his company, to replace casualties in the front line, he at once volunteered and led his men forward with the greatest determination though suffering heavy casualties.2nd Lieutenant Pellatt became a Deputy Assistant Director at the War Office as a temporary Major in which post he was awarded thew MBG. On 1 January 1920 as part of the draw down of the Army he became a Staff Captain at the War Office.
