ATTRIBUTED TO DAVID DALBY OF YORK (1794-1836) PORTRAIT OF THE CHESTNUT MARE "ROSAMUND" BY A THATCHED BARN IN A LANDSCAPE inscribed Rosamund, oil on canvas, 62 x 75cmAccording to an old label on the stretcher "Rosamund" was bred by Gilbert Crompton in 1798, and was sired by "Buzzard" out of "Roseberry". "Rosamund's" seventeen foals included "Barefoot". "Rosamund" died in 1829.
