A CHINESE SOFT PASTE PORCELAIN DRAGON VASE, QING DYNASTY carved with two round panels of writhing dragons, the sides with auspicious emblems and mask handles with articulated eyes and tongue, 16cm h, , Qianlong markProvenance: Acquired in China by William Amos Washbrook (d1910), merchant of Ningbo or his Herbert George Washbook (1887 China - Marlborough Wiltshire 1956) thence by descenyt to his grand daughter, the present vendor. H G Washbrook was born in China, the son of W A Washbrook a merchant established at Ningbo, who died there in 1910 aged 52. H G Washbrook also carried on the business of a merchant in China, arriving in the United Kingdom only in 1921.
