PARLIAMENTARY INTEREST. AN IRISH GEORGE II SILVER SALVER on four feet, later chased, 41.5cm diam, by Christopher Locker, Dublin 1745, 62ozsProvenance: Henry Stone Smith (1795-1881) Clerk, House of Lords, to whom presented by 21 named parliamentary agents on 26 January 1841. That the House of Lords archive survived the burning of the Palace of Westminster in October 1834 is due in large part to the indefatigable efforts of Henry Stone Smith who from the burning building threw hundreds of bundles of often ancient and irreplaceable documents through the blazing windows.
