TWO RARE ENGLISH ARTS & CRAFTS COPPER REPOUSSE RESTAURANT BILL OF FARE BOARDS, EARLY 20TH C inscribed Buol's Cafe (on one in brass), the hammer textured scrolling surround centred by a hinged brass frame, backed on wood, 49.5 x 32cmFounded by its eponymous proprietor Monsieur Henri Buol (1888-1943) the Cafe Buol at 20 Market Street, Nottingham near the City's Theatre Royal, was one of the most sophisticated and elegant restaurants of its time. Buol, a Swiss-born chocolatier and confectioner, also had establishments at 7 Clumber Street and 55A St James's Street, Nottingham.
