AN A EDWARD JONES SILVER BOWL REPLICA OF THE ASHBORNE MEASURE applied with a girdle centred by royal arms and inscribed ASHBORNE:IN:COUNTY:DERBS:1677, realistically cast to resemble the original, on three feet, 15cm over handles, mark of A Edward Jones Ltd, Birmingham 1914, 13ozs 10dwtsThe Ashborne bushel measure had a circumference of 5ft 2¾ inches and a rich, dark green patina. It was originally chained at the covered Market Cross at the bottom of the Market Place in Ashbourne, Derbyshire and was the subject of an article by W R Holland in the Journal of The Derbyshire Archaeological & Natural History Society, 1898.
