A WATERCOLOUR BY EDWARD WITHERS (C1754-D1814) OF A ROSE AND BUDS on laid paper, 30.5 x 21cm and two albums of mounted photographs of drawings and inscriptions by William 'Quaker' PeggThe watercolour was amongst twelve by Withers found by John Twitchett said to have been in the possession of an old Derby family. Two were initialled EW and one dated 1789, they mostly depicted flowers. It is conjectured they may have been part of a portfolio intended to demonstrate Withers' proficiency at flower painting to William Duesbury.
