J E Wescomb succeeded his brother J Wescomb Emerton to the Langford and Thrumpton estates which he much improved. He died unmarried and was succeeded by his niece Lucy, Lady Byron. The Revd Wiliam Wescomb married Jane Douglas by whom he had three daughters.
