He lived at the "Crowner's House" in Gregory St, Lenton, Nottingham. The historian and biographer Robert Mellors described him as a man of "conspicuous ability." The law firm he founded in Nottingham in 1832 has greatly expanded and is today known as Browne Jacobson LLP.
